Lucy DaviesI am a mum to two children who are now 2 and 4 years old. My journey into discovering slings began with my eldest who was born 8 weeks premature and suffered from reflux that was difficult to get under control. Slings were a practical answer to being able to keep him upright and more comfortable without feeling so restricted carrying him round in my arms everywhere. I then found that slings were giving me a chance to make up for the closeness and bonding that we missed out on when he was born.
I started volunteering with Chester Sling Library which I thoroughly enjoyed and eventually joined with a friend to take over and run the library from March 2014 - August 2016. During that time I had my daughter and worked hard to study and be in a position to be able to pursue my ambition. Now I can very happily say that I will be starting as a student midwife in September 2016! This means that I have given up my half of the sling library and will be continuing to practice as a baby carrying consultant more in my local area with private appointments and informal sling meets when I have availability. I trained with the Slingababy Training School in March 2015 and I am fully insured to carry out consultations and offer the most up to date and safe advice on baby carrying. |
